“When I was weaving a garland
I found Love amid the roses
And I grabbed him by the wings
And dunked him in my wine.
I drank that little guy down
And now he’s inside me still
Tickling me with his wings”
στέφος πλέκων ποτ᾿ εὗρον
ἐν τοῖς ῥόδοις Ἔρωτα,
καὶ τῶν πτερῶν κατασχὼν
ἐβάπτισ᾿ εἰς τὸν οἶνον,
λαβὼν δ᾿ ἔπινον αὐτόν·
καὶ νῦν ἔσω μελῶν μου
πτεροῖσι γαργαλίζει.
