“Evil deeds do not succeed: the swift is overtaken by the slow.”

 

…οὐκ ἀρετᾷ κακὰ ἔργα· κιχάνει τοι βραδὺς ὠκύν

 

These lines come from the song of the affair of Ares and Aphrodite sung by Demodocus in the Odyssey.  Go here for the full text.
