Thanatos, Greek god of death

“As Sappho says, death is a great evil and the gods have judged it so: for they do not die”

ἢ ὥσπερ Σαπφώ, ὅτι τὸ ἀποθνῄσκειν κακόν· οἱ θεοὶ

γὰρ οὕτω κεκρίκασιν· ἀπέθνησκον γὰρ ἄν.
