Dangers of the Desire to Appear Knowing

“They desire to excel, and in their eagerness to appear to know many things, they are rather apt to reveal secrets; and, in thus throwing themselves about, they are often discovered to be liars. At the same time, because they lack experience, they are most frequently deceived when they think that they are speaking the truth.”
