NOTE: As mentioned in the anecdote, Thomas Gaisford was the Dean of Christ Church, and is known to Classicists primarily due to the enduring famae momumentum which still exists under his name as The Gaisford Prize, traditionally awarded to the composers of original Greek verse or prose.
