Many professors can sympathize with Aristides the Rhetor, mentioned in an epigram in the Greek Anthology.

“Salutations, you seven students of Aristides: four walls, and three benches!”

Χαίρετ’ ᾿Αριστείδου τοῦ ῥήτορος ἑπτὰ μαθηταί,
