PLATO, ION 531a
SOCRATES: Indeed, I will make time to hear you out, but tell me this: are you good at reciting Homer alone, or are you also good at Hesiod and Pindar?
ION: Not in the least – I am good at reciting Homer alone. That seems enough to me.
ΣΩ. Καὶ μὴν ἐγὼ ἔτι ποιήσομαι σχολὴν ἀκροάσασθαί
σου, νῦν δέ μοι τοσόνδε ἀπόκριναι· πότερον περὶ ῾Ομήρου
μόνον δεινὸς εἶ ἢ καὶ περὶ ῾Ησιόδου καὶ ᾿Αρχιλόχου;
ΙΩΝ. Οὐδαμῶς, ἀλλὰ περὶ ῾Ομήρου μόνον· ἱκανὸν γάρ
μοι δοκεῖ εἶναι.
